COME AND BE
HEALED ON WEEK-DAYS
Enter into
the stillness of God within.
Reading ”There are six days when work is to
be fone. Come on one of those and not on the Sabbath.” (Luke 13:10-17)
Reflection. When the synagogue official said
these words there must have been an outburst of laughter. Imagine a notice at the entrance to a
hospital COME ON WEEKDAYS ONLY. Luke is ridiculing the attitude of those who
would not budge from theirstance of tight control of the social political
order. Any breach, any suggestion of
change and the whole thing would come crasking down. Jesus had not come to detroy but to help
people change and see that their traditional ways were only a preparation fo
something much better, something that would bring them true freedom. But the controllers wouldn’t budge.
Prayer. Lord, help us break down the
barriers in ourselves and in our society that oppose change and development. Amen.
