ALAS FOR
YOU, CHORAZIN!
Pause. Enter into the stillness of God
within.
Reading: “Alas for you, Chorazin! For if the signs
shown in you had been shone in Tyre and Sidon, they would have repented long
ago.” (Matthew 11:20-24)
Reflection. There is a weariness in this lament
of Jesus. He has tried so hard to announce the good news but the towns of Juda
do not listen. This is frighteneing. Opportunities come our way constantly but somehow we often miss them. The gospel
message is always a call to alertness -
sensitivity to signs and moments where people call to us and often we do not
notice.
Prayer. Lord, help us to be attentive to
all that happens around us. Help us to respond. Amen.
