PRAYER PAUSE
Saturday 4 March 2017
LEAVING
EVERYTHING
Pause. Enter into the stillness of God
within.
Reading: “And leaving everything he go up and
followed him.” (Luke 5:27-32)
Reflection. So Matthew simply got up, left his dubious
profession and went after Jesus. Gradually his life was changed and eventually
he would write a record of all that had happened, a record that has nourished
every generation up to the present. It sounds simple and, in a way it is
simple. We too have our ties, our worries, our regrets. The Church invites us
as we enter Lent, to “get up”and rise above all that bothers us and reach out
to follow Jesus along the way. Our reading from Isaiah 58 today says the “your
light will shine,” as it did with Matthew.
Prayer. Lord, teach
us to rise above our worries and reach out to you. Amen.
