“MARY!”
Enter
into the stillness of God within.
Reading: “Sir, if you have taken him
away tell me where you have put him, and I will go and remove him.” Jesus said,
“Mary!” She knew him then.” (John 20:11-18)
Reflection. Easter is a flash of light
revealing the true situation. The disciples hadconfused expectations of what
the Messiah would achieve and even as late as Acts 1 they are talking about “the
restoration of Israel.” Mary of Magdala, one of his closest followers was
distracted and confused in her love. Jesus breaks through all these unformed
and confused expectations. What he had
come to do was far more radical that they could think of. And so it is
today. We still have confused ideas of
God’s kingdom breaking through on earth. For some it means one thing, for
others another. But it is basically
about transforming men and women and the relations between them and the earrth. We are trying to get it right but there is so
much disagreement about what “right” means. Easter is our time for focus,
passion and faith.
Prayer. Lord, as we rejoice help us
to see how to live Easter in the radical way to which you call us. Do not allow us to adapt your agenda to ours,
but ours to yours. Amen
