PRAYER PAUSE
Monday 9 April 2018, The
Annunciation
LET
IT BE WITH ME ACCORDING TO YOUR WORD
Enter
into the stillness of God within.
Reading: Then Mary said, “Here I am,
the servant of the Lord: let it be done with me according to your word.” (Luke
1: 26-38)
Reflection. Right in the midst of the
Easter period we celebrate the Annunciation (25 March), pushed to one side by
Holy Week. Sunday’s readings centred on
faith, symbolised by the difficulty of Thomas to come to faith and the fullness
of his expression, “My Lord and my God!” Today’s readings focus on Mary’s faith; she
opened for all humankind the door to God’s entry in flesh and blood. Zachariah had problems, Cleophas had problems
and Thomas had problems but they all came to believe. Two days ago 15,000 celebrated
the new bishop of Chinhoyi, Raymund Mpandasekwa. All of us who were there were somewhere on
our journey of faith; some of us just beginning, some perhaps faltering or
superficial with a “social” faith and others using every opportunity to deepen
our faith through words, but principally through our actions and way of living
our lives.
Prayer. Lord, increase our faith,
especially by the decisions we make in small things as well as big. May Mary, Mother of Faith, interdcede for us
when we waver or get discouraged by challenges we face. Amen
