BORN
FROM ABOVE
Enter
into the stillness of God within.
Reading: “Do not be surprised when I
say, ‘You must be born from above.’ The wind blows wherever it pleases.” (John
3:7-15)
Reflection. On Sunday we saw the
difficulty of Thomas in believing. Today
we see Nicodemus also struggling. John’s
whole gospel is an account of Jesus coming “from above” to reach out his hand
to us who are born “from below.” Jesus meets great opposition but he also meets
the “many (who) believed in him.” Among
them were Nicodemus, the woman at the well and the others. This whole Easter period in the Church’s year
is our journey with the likes of Nicodemus to come to an understanding of the
Lord who is in our midst, risen from the dead, alive and at work among us.
There is still great opposition – even within our own hearts. But there are still “many” searching. “Faith”
is that little word which means a person moves in this new world “from above.” It makes all the difference to their life.
Prayer. Lord, increase our faith:
help us to understand and see you in the events of our lives each day. Amen
