COMING
TO MEET THEM
Enter
into the stillness of God within.
Reading: And there, coming to meet
them, was Jesus. “Greetings!” he said. (Matthew
28:8-15)
Reflection. After all the sadness, confusion and sense of loss, suddenly
Jesus breaks through and comes to meet the women. All their pain, desolation and bewilderment
vanishes in his presence and they are overcome with fear and joy. This
experience of “breakthrough” could not have happened if the women had not
experienced the limits of their own search and suffering. They stretched out
their hearts over two days and only
found emptiness. We can place ourselves
there for emptiness, sadness and confusion is often our experience today. When we reach our limits of yearning Jesus is
always there, coming to meet us.
Prayer. Lord, you come to meet us
in our emptiness. May we rejoice in these days of Easter, knowing your approach.
Amen
