FIGHTING
AGAINST GOD
Enter
into the stillness of God within.
Reading: “You will not only be
unable to destroy them, but you might find yourself fighting against God.” (Acts5:34-42)
Reflection. Luke mirrors in Acts his
account in the gospel. Just as Jesus had
a honeymoon when people flocked to him and then met determined opposition, so
the disciples in Acts have early success but soon find themselves in
confrontation with the Jewish leaders. The want to kill them as they did Jesus.
But one wise voice rises up and warns them that this work may be “of God” and
if it is opposition to it will be futile.
As we progress in Easter time it is good to remember that this work is “of God” and, despite the twists and
turns of history, the Lord is with us and will bring victory out of all our
struggles.
Prayer. Lord, in this Eastertide may
we have courage to know that you accompany us in all the challenges we meet.
Amen
