THIS ACCOUNT
SATISFIED THEM
Pause. Enter into the stillness of God
within.
Reading: “This account satisfied them, and
the gave glory to |God. ‘God’, they said , ‘can evidently give even the pagans
the repentance that leads to faith.” (Acts 11:1-18).
Reflection. The book of the Acts is an account of
the transformation of the faith community born at the resurrection. They expand
their group to include deacons. They reach out to the pagan Ethiopian, Saul
changes from a persecutor to an apostle and now Peter formally welcomes the
pagans into the what was an exclusive Jewish movement. This note of
transformation is going to mark the story of the Church right up to today. We
are called to be open all the time to developments around us; in the Church
herself and in the “pagan” world. We have a tradition, yes, but it is a
tradition open to change.
Prayer. Lord, teach us to be open to
your Spirit leading us into new ways. Amen.
