THE WAY
Pause. Enter into the stillness of God
within.
Reading: “I am the way; the truth and the
life. No one can come to the Father except through me.” (John 14:1-6).
Reflection. John14 starts with that consoling reference to “many rooms in
my Father’s house.” There is room for everybody. The only thing required is a
wedding garment. And Jesus provides it for he is the Way. Anyone who longs to
do what is right and who grieves over their wretchedness, will find room. In
our overcrowded prisons filled with people from dysfunctional families for whom
life has been intolerably hard, there is room. That is the consolation. But in
the meantime we are all to struggle for justice in our societies in whatever
way is open to us. That is the way and it is truth and life.
Prayer. Lord, may we long to follow your
way. It leads to the cross and through the cross to victory and joy. Amen.
