THE PEOPLE
ARE RELYING ON WHAT IS FALSE
Pause. Enter into the stillness of God
within.
Reading: “Listen, Hananiah, the Lord has not
sent you; and thanks to you the people are relying on what is false.” (Jeremiah
28:1-17)
Reflection. Jeremiah gives this damning verdict
on the false prophet, thereby endangering himself. It is a moment to reflect on
how public men and women can feed people with fale promises. And, also, how we
like to please people in what we say to them. It is hard to confront, to speak
the truth, though with some it is their default attitude! But there is a point here:
it is a call to speak the truth when we see things are not right whether they
be major or minor.
Prayer. Lord, give
us the courage to reflect on things and say what we think. Amen
