NOTHING LIKE THIS

PRAYER PAUSE

Tuesday 5 July 2016

NOTHING LIKE THIS

Pause. Enter into the stillness of God within.

Reading: “Nothing like this has ever been seen in Israel.” (Matt 9:32-38)

Reflection. Jesus cured a dumb demoniac and the people were amazed. Something new was afoot that had never been seen before. Great hope was aroused. But then Jesus was arrested, tortured and killed. Disillusionment and confusion set in. Then they were told he had risen. What did it mean? Now new hope was aroused but this time of a sort that touched their lives more deeply. They too might have to suffer but they realised that now there was a breakthrough. Nothing like this had ever been seen before. And so it is with us. We experience amazement and disillusion, hope and confusion. All the time we come closer to a solid grounding in faith.

Prayer. Lord, build within us a solid foundation of faith. Amen
