ASK AND YOU WILL RECEIVE

PRAYER PAUSE

Saturday 7 May 2016

ASK AND YOU WILL RECEIVE

Pause. Enter into the stillness of God within.

Reading: “Ask and you will receive, and so your joy will be complete.” (John 16:23-28)

Reflection. We learn to express our needs early. There is an ache that prompts us to reach out for what we want. It never stops. We ask questions at school and, like Oliver Twist, we ask for more. Bartimaeus asked for his sight insistently. Sometimes we don’t know what we want. It’s a blur. Ignatius of Loyola insists we get in touch with our real desires. “What do you want? What are you looking for?” It is Jesus’ question to Mary Magdalene in the garden. She is looking for a dead body. And what does she find/ “Your joy will be complete.”

Prayer. Lord, we do ask for what we want; what is deepest within us. May we know you and come to you now and always. Amen
