Sacred Heart of Jesus
LOVE
BEYOND ALL KNOWLEDGE
Enter
into the stillness of God within.
Reading: “until, knowing the love of Christ, which is
beyond all knowledge, you are filled with the utter fullness of God.” (Ephesians
3:8,,,19)
Reflection. There is a cascade of
readings for today – from Hoseaa 11, Ephesiand 3 and John 19 – which speak of
the heart of God reaching out to us poor humans and lifting us up like a parent
swoops up their child into their arms.
The tender words of the prophet –“my heart recoils from” destroying the
people because of their sins, the words of John about the pierced heart of
Jesus on the cross and here where Paul falls over himself about the knowledge of
God’s love which is beyond knowledge, all these recall and celebrate the desire
of God to draw us to himself. It is an
invitation, a proposal of marriage, a sign of a love that wants to give life to
the full. The trouble is we create so
many excuses for not responding that the whole thing becomes blurred for us.
Prayer. Lord, give us the clarity
of mind and heart that allows us to welcome your love coming to meet us. Amen
