PRAYER PAUSE

LOVE WITH
ALL YOUR HEART
Pause. Enter into the stillness of God
within.
Reading: “You must love the Lord your God
with all your heart, with all your soul, with all your mind and with all your
strength.” (Mark12:28-34)
Reflection. We might wonder why this shema comes suddenly just before the
Passion in Mark? Only a remnant had remained to welcome the Messiah after the
long history of Israel and even in Jesus’ time he met rejection and hostility. But,
in spite of everything, this is the faith of Israel; pure love of God and of
others. This is the rock. And it remains our rock in the midst of the whirl
around us. Israel drifted and the Church has drifted but at the end of the day
this is what we come back to. This is the solid foundation: love.
Prayer. Lord, may we build our lives on
love. Love for you and for one another – which is the same thing. Amen.
