SOMEONE WILL
LEAD YOU
Pause. Enter into the stillness of God
within.
Reading: “When you were young you went where
you liked; but when you grow old somebody else will lead you where you would
rather not go.” (John 21:15-19).
Reflection. There is no one more selfish than a new
born child! All they think of is their needs. Slowly they discover there are
other people who also have needs and as they grow they become more selfless.
Jesus reminds Peter of this dynamic in this final chapter of John. The older we
get the more our freedom of choice and movement diminish. We are led by others.
St John of the Cross says we are to let ourselves be “carried” by the One who
loves us and knows what is best for us. But can we allow Him to lead us. Can we
welcome the leading of the Holy Spirit?
Prayer. Come Holy Spirit! Lead kindly light!
Amen.
