PRAYER PAUSE

LORD , I
WAIT
Pause. Enter into the stillness of God
within.
Reading: “Lord, I wait for the sentence you
will give to deliver me from this affliction.” (Tobit 3:1…17).
Reflection. The story of Tobias is the sort of
story that could be found anywhere. People in distress go through trials and
come out happy in the end. Such stories are not just entertainment. They carry
a profound message because life is like that. But what I have left out is the bridge between the trials and the
happiness; turning to God in trust. The old man, Tobit, is in exile. He tries
to follow the law but ends up blind and lonely. He turns to the Lord and waits.
The story develops and there is a happy ending for his son and for him. It is a
timeless simple tale and yet so often we have not yet learnt it.
Prayer. Lord, teach is to turn to you in our
trials in patience and perseverance. And teach us to wait in trust for your action.
Amen.
Prayer. Lord, help us to open our hearts
to those we would not naturally welcome. Amen.
