THE SUPREME ADVANTAGE

PRAYER PAUSE

Thursday 3 November 2016, Martin de Porres

THE SUPREME ADVANTAGE

Pause. Enter into the stillness of God within.

Reading: “Nothing can happen that will outweigh the supreme advantage of knowing Christ Jesus my Lord.” (Philippians 3:3-8)

Reflection. Paul discounts all his qualifications as a Jew and a Pharisee in comparison to his coming to know Jesus. He has such a personal and passionate love for the Lord that everything else falls away in significance. The late Pedro Arrupe was once asked what Jesus Christ meant for him. He hardly hesitated before replying, “Everything! Jesus is everything to me.” That personal bond is not just a security but a springboard in our lives. It energizes us each day and gives us power and imagination to engage.

Prayer. Lord, may we know you and enjoy the energy you give us through this knowledge to engage with our sisters and brothers each day. Amen
