PRAYER PAUSE
Wednesday 9 November 2016, Dedication
of S John Lateran
THE HOUSE
GOD BUILDS
Pause. Enter into the stillness of God
within.
Reading: “You are the house which God is
building.” (1 Cor. 3:9…17)
Reflection. Why are we remembering today a house
built in the year 320? It was part of the euphoria of the Christians after the
peace of Constantine and was the first church to be built and became a symbol
of the unity of the Church. Further, it became a metaphor for the “living
stones”, a church built not of bricks and cement but of people and the Spirit.
Visits to St Peter’s in Rome are good but they do not have the force that
Muslims give to their journey to Mecca. Our journey is one of faith to reach
out to people that we may all take our place as part of the “building” God is constructing.
Prayer. Lord, may
we, as your people, become living stones in the bouse you are building each day.
Amen
