PRAYER PAUSE
Saturday 12 November 2016, Josaphat
SHE KEPT ON
COMING
Pause. Enter into the stillness of God
within.
Reading: “There was a woman who kept on
coming to him and saying, ‘I want justice’.” (Luke 18:1-8)
Reflection. Jesus’ parable is about a judge who
delays to treat a case. He keeps “losing the file” and making other excuses.
But she persists. She has a strong civic sense of what should happen in the
country. She doesn’t just say, ‘There is nothing I can do.’ She will “worry him
to death.” The original language said something like ‘She will box my ears.’ A
tough lady! And Jesus holds her up as a model of focus and prayer.
Prayer. Lord, help
us to have focus. When we are pulled this way and that, may the needle of our
compass keep returning to you. Amen
