PRAYER PAUSE
Saturday 3
September 2016, Gregory the Great
WHAT DO YOU
HAVE
Pause. Enter into the stillness of God
within.
Reading: “What do you have that was not given
to you?” (1 Cor.4:6-15)
Reflection. Paul is struggling to deal with the divisions
in the community in Corinth. He expresses his love for them and at the same
time goads them to wake up to where their divisions are leading them. He brings
them back to basics: everything you have was given to you. So how can you boast
of it? What is gained by division? He then humbles himself before them. We have
the impression of a person struggling to find a way to rebuild unity. These are
issues today – in our parishes, communities, even families. And, of course, in our
country.
Prayer. Lord, help
us to humle ourselves that we may build unity.. Amen
