PRAYER PAUSE

A GREAT
CROWD OF PEOPLE
Pause. Enter into the stillness of God
within.
Reading: “He then came down with the apostles
and stopped at a piece of level ground where there was a large gathering of his
disciples with a great crowd of people from all parts.” (Luke 6:12-19)
Reflection. Jesus spends the whole night in
prayer to God. He then chooses his apostles and comes down with them to meet
his disciples and a “large crowd.” He ministers to them and they go out into the
whole world and over two millennia (to date) do the same. When “all is complete”
he will gather all those who have lived by modelling their lives as best they
can on his “way”. Then the end will come and God will be “all in all.” That is
the drama we are part of. A journey of a thousand miles starts with a single
step, the Chinese say. Well, each day we make one more step – with joy and
anticipation whatever the circumstances.
Prayer. Lord, help
us to always keep before our eyes the end, the purpose, for which you made us. Amen
