PRAYER MOMENT
Easter Friday
1 April 2016
THEY
ARRESTED THEM
Pause. Enter into the stillness of God
within.
Reading: “They
were extremely annoyed at their teaching the people the doctrine of the
resurrection from the dead by proclaiming the resurrection of Jesus. They
arrested them…” (Acts4:1-12)
Reflection. It was a short honey moon and within
a week of Good Friday we find ourselves reading about the arrest of the apostles.
They were quickly tasting the reality of the cross. Easter does not cancel Good
Friday. We will have Good Friday with us till we die. Yet we are often caught
unawares and unprepared when suffering comes. Why me? And why now? I know it is
easy to say but Good Friday is the very stuff of our lives. Easter just
reinterprets it for us. We see things anew and can glimpse, for instance, why in
1943 a group of Dutch Jews sang psalms while the train carried them to their
deaths.
Prayer. Lord, may Easter cast new light on
each day we live. Amen
