PRAYER MOMENT
Easter Saturday
2 April 2016
THEY DID NOT
BELIEVE
Pause. Enter into the stillness of God
within.
Reading: “He showed himself to two of them on
their way to the country. They went back and told the others who did not
believe them.” (Mark 16:9-15)
Reflection. It is hard to understand why Mark is
so negative about the disciples. In the body of the gospel they are in a daze
and here at the end they do not believe. The other writers, recounting the same
event, tell us they were dumbfounded but they did come to believe. Perhaps it
helps our unbelief because we read the passages but can often fail to transpose
what we call our belief into real events that happen around us. It is OK to sing
‘alleluia’ but what happens when life disappoints us?
Prayer. Lord, help us to interpret the
events of our life in the light of the death and resurrection of Jesus. Amen
