HE CONCEALED
ME IN HIS QUIVER
Pause. Enter into the stillness of God
within.
Reading: “He made
my mouth a sharp sword, and hid me in the shadow of his hand. He made me into a
sharpened arrow, and concealed me in his quiver.” (Isaiah 40:1-6)
Reflection. Why the emphasis on hiding and
concealment in this servant song from Isaiah? The gospels describe the birth of
Jesus as an event unnoticed by the world. And here the purpose of the Passion
of Jesus is hidden from his contemporaries. God has entered into the human
family and now transforms it from within, without fuss or fanfare. It is not
seen either then or now except by those with eyes to see. By his total
acceptance of what it is to be human he has transformed humanity and that means
every single person who reaches out to be fully alive..
Prayer. Lord, through your Passion help us
to enter into life in whatever way it comes to meet us. Amen
