NEITHER DO I CONDEMN YOU

PRAYER PAUSE

Monday 3 April 2017

NEITHER DO I CONDEMN YOU

Pause. Enter into the stillness of God within.

Reading: “Woman, where are they? Has no one condemned you?” “No one, sir,” she replied. “Neither do I condemn you,” said Jesus, “go away and do not sin anymore.” (John 8:1-11)

Reflection. We have two women in our readings today: Susanna, who was innocent, in Daniel 13, and the woman in John 8 who was guilty. God “moves” towards both of them to bring them healing. He cuts through the hostility of wicked plotters. This is drama and such rapid healing is not often evident in our own world. But the movement of God towards us is the same. He always comes to heal. It is just that we don’t notice it and are not prepared. As Lent draws towards its final days we try to open our lives towards this movement of God towards us and receive what he longs to give.

Prayer. Lord, as we approach these last days of Lent help us to be open to your coming to us as you did on the road to Emmaus.  Amen.
