of the Cross
THE
SON OF MAN MUST BE LIFTED UP
Enter
into the stillness of God within.
Reading ”The Son of Man must be lifted
up as Moses lifted up the serpent in the sdesert” (John 3:13-17)
Reflection. There are two major moments
in the Christian year: Christmas which celebrates God becoming human in Jesus,
and Easter which celebrates Jesus confronting evil and overcoming it. We too
became human beings at our moment of conception and we too, in order to become
full human, must confront evil in our ourselves and in the world. We had no
choice in the former; we have every choice in the latter. The cross is the sign
of our choices. We either identify with it, and the one who was lifted up on
it, or we reject it and fail to become fully human. .Today’s feast is a moment
to remember aggin Good Friday and its message to us.
Prayer. Lord, help us to make our choice
in union with the desire of your heart: that the kingdom of the Father may
come. Amen
